Horizontal Murphy Beds as Entertainment Centers

These custom designed Murphy Beds are built to look like an entertainment center. These are the horizontal or sideways versions, where the bed is rotated 90 degrees to fold out from the side.
For upright designs, see our Vertical Entertainment Center Murphy Beds.

Pros of the Horizontal Murphy Bed Version:

  • Great for lower ceilings
  • Resembles most entertainment centers that are wider than tall
  • Ideal for shallower rooms due to reduced projection from the back wall

Cons of the Horizontal Murphy Bed Version:

  • Two people sharing the bed may find it inconvenient as one must crawl over the other
  • If not placed in a corner, a separate headboard is needed as the wall won’t act as one

TV Integration

We embedded a TV into the face of the unit to enhance the entertainment center appearance. These TVs are typically supplied by the customer.
Alternatively, we can purchase one for you and pass the exact cost along.

The Samsung “The Frame” series is a popular choice. It mounts flush against the wall and is compatible with this Murphy Bed.
Its power cord is low profile, and all accessories like HDMI or cable are connected through a separate box that can be placed anywhere, connected by a thin wire.

Murphy Bed Mechanism

We use the Create-a-bed Murphy Bed Mechanism, featuring a durable wood frame and adjustable pistons.
This mechanism performs reliably for horizontal configurations.

Important Note

We are not electronics dealers. If we purchase a Television on your behalf, we will pass along the exact cost and provide a receipt for warranty purposes.
You will be responsible for managing any warranty issues directly with the TV manufacturer.

TV Murphy Bed – Frequently Asked Questions

How do you get the TV?

We are not an electronics dealer, and we want you to have the freedom to choose your preferred television.
You will need to supply the TV. Most customers order it online and have it shipped directly to our address.

What size TV can we put in the Murphy Bed?

We typically recommend limiting the size to a 55″ television. However, compatibility depends on the specific TV model and its weight.

Can a TV be laid flat?

Most manufacturers advise against transporting TVs lying flat due to the risk of damage from rough handling.
That said, it is possible if the TV is properly supported and handled carefully.

What is the best TV to use in a Murphy Bed?

The Samsung Frame is highly recommended. Its slim profile and fiber optic One Connect Box make installation clean and simple.

Can I connect my DVD player or cable box to the Murphy Bed TV?

Yes, standard HDMI cables can be used. The Samsung Frame’s One Connect Box makes this especially easy, and many streaming options also work via Wi-Fi.

Can a soundbar be added?

Yes, a soundbar can be added and is usually positioned just below the TV.
Most soundbars connect via Wi-Fi, but we can accommodate wired connections as well, depending on your setup.

Can I see what the Murphy Bed will look like with a specific TV size?

Absolutely. Once your order is placed, we’ll provide a scaled rendering of the Murphy bed with your selected TV size.
This gives you a clear visual of how it will appear in a room before finalizing your purchase.
