Does WWBeds send people out to do the assembly and installation?

We do not send anyone out for the assembly and installation, unless you are located in Arkansas. Customers often install the unit themselves using our instructions or videos. If uncomfortable, we recommend hiring a local handyman, moving/storage, or cabinet company. For reference, we can send you the assembly instructions before purchase—just email sales@wwbeds.com.

What are the main benefits of a Murphy Bed?

A Murphy bed helps you reclaim floor space. It lets a guest bedroom or home office serve dual purposes — you can raise or stow the bed when not in use. It provides a space-saving solution while still offering comfortable sleeping arrangements for guests.

I have metal studs. Is this an issue?

No — metal studs are not a problem. Just let us know in advance so we can send the correct mounting hardware for installation.

We ship Murphy bed units on a skid/pallet via freight lines like SAIA or Estes. The unit is broken into multiple boxes and delivered curbside. You’ll be responsible for disposing of the packing materials.

How long does it take from time of order until shipping?

Current production lead time is approximately 5–7 weeks (as of 2/11/25). For the most up-to-date lead time, contact one of our sales representatives.

Are your Murphy Bed units made out of solid wood?

No. To support durability and reduce weight, we use veneered plywood. We do not use particle board or melamine, and all units are built to last for generations.

Will the freight company bring the shipment inside my home?

No — freight delivery is curbside only. If you need help bringing the boxes inside, we suggest hiring a local moving or storage company to assist.

How is shipping damage handled?

If you notice visible damage upon delivery, contact us immediately. We will assist with the freight company claims and provide replacement parts as needed. Hidden damage must be reported within 5 business days. For international shipments, full value coverage ends once the package reaches the freight forwarder.

Do I need a spring or piston mechanism?

Most of our Murphy bed units use spring systems. However, we use piston systems when the unit includes an inset desk, fold-down desk, or mirror.

Can you build a King size?

In many styles, yes — but we cannot build King size versions of Inset Desk, Mirror, or Pivoting Bookcase Murphy beds due to added weight. Also, horizontal orientation is not available in King.

Can I use my own mattress?

Yes — any standard mattress up to 12" thick is acceptable. We do not recommend adjustable, bed-in-a-box, or memory foam mattresses and cannot guarantee their fit.

Do you allow cancellations or returns?

You may cancel your order and receive a full refund of the $400 deposit unless we’ve already drawn your design or ordered special materials. After production begins, cancellations incur a 20% restocking fee. We don’t accept returns once products ship.

What is the warranty?

We offer a 10-year warranty on the mechanism and a 1-year warranty on workmanship. Replacement parts exclude international shipping and labor costs.

How do I order a Murphy Bed unit? What is the process?

Start by requesting a free quote. After you place a $400 deposit, we’ll send you a detailed drawing packet. Once approved, production begins. Upon completion, we share photos and request the final payment before shipping.

Can we receive a drawing?

Yes — once your order is placed, we provide a detailed drawing packet. If you’d like a drawing before ordering, there is a $100 fee (which will be credited toward your order if you proceed).

What is the weight limit on your Murphy bed units?

Most units support up to 800 lbs (including mattress). Murphy bunks support up to 150 lbs and are not intended for adult use.

What are the dimensions?

Dimensions vary by model. Refer to our Murphy Bed Sizes page for vertical and horizontal units. We can also customize the size of side or upper bookcases.

Are we able to get finish samples?

Yes — you can purchase stain/paint samples. If you’ve placed an order, up to two stock color samples can be sent free. Otherwise, samples are chargeable.

How can I get pricing?

Many product pages include price breakdowns. For accurate pricing (including shipping), request a free quote or email a sales rep with your requirements.

What payment is required to get this ordered?

A $400 deposit is required to place your order. The remaining balance is due upon completion, before shipping.

Do you offer any discounts?

No — we strive to offer our best pricing upfront and thus do not offer additional discounts.

What makes WWBeds superior to other companies?

We use veneered plywood over less durable materials, offer extensive customization, maintain high customer service standards, and carefully hand-assemble each unit to ensure precision and longevity.

Can this be left freestanding or does it attach to the wall?

The Murphy bed must be mounted directly to wall studs (typically 3–4 points at the header). It is not designed to be freestanding.

Do I have to remove my existing baseboards?

No — we include a 6" cutout to accommodate standard base molding. If your molding is taller, let us know and we’ll adjust the cutout accordingly.

Can I leave my bedding on when closing the Murphy bed unit?

It depends. For thinner mattresses (≤12"), you may leave sheets or a comforter on. We don’t recommend leaving pillows, as they may fall when the bed is stowed.

Are the Murphy beds easy to raise and lower?

Yes — our mechanisms are counterbalanced, requiring minimal effort. However, added weight (desk, TV, etc.) or using a King size may increase the effort needed.

Do you have a showroom where I can see the products?

Yes — we maintain a showroom in Central Arkansas. While not all units are on display, our staff can demonstrate operation and walk you through options.

Are these beds made for daily use?

Yes — our Murphy bed units are engineered for daily operation and long-term use.

What if I don’t see what I’m looking for on your website?

Because we build custom units, you are welcome to share designs or ideas (e.g. from Pinterest) via email. We’ll work with you to bring your vision to life.

What should I do if I have an issue with my Murphy Bed unit?

Contact us at sales@wwbeds.com and include photos or video of the issue along with a description. A builder will respond promptly with guidance or replacement parts.

Can a Murphy Bed be moved after the initial installation?

Yes — our units attach only at the top and don’t require removal of base molding, making them relatively easy to disassemble and relocate.

If you finish my bed before I need it, can you hold it?

We try to coordinate timing carefully. If a delay is needed, we offer a one-week (5 business day) grace period for free. Beyond that, a $10/day storage fee applies and must be paid before shipping.

There is a bigger gap on one side than the other. What should I do?

Your Murphy bed may be out of square. You can fix it by slightly kicking out the lower vertical until the gap evens. Please refer to our video instructions for demonstration.

My bed will not close completely (spring version). What are possible causes?

Possible causes include: no mattress installed, mattress is too thick, mattress is slouching (especially foam types), or wall not plumb. Also check that desks or attachments are mounted correctly. Adjust or reposition as needed.

My bed will not close completely (piston version). What are possible causes?

Common causes are: adjustable lower ball stud plate placed too far back, mattress too thick, mattress slouching, or out-of-plumb walls. Adjust the plate position forward and verify mattress and wall alignment.
